I happen to believe Douglas Lee's comment fully. Analog devices are those which translate the real world signal into digital information. There will always be a place for them, as long as the "real world" exists. The real world is vision that you can see, temperatures that you can feel, magnetic field that you can sense, vibrations that you can detect, accelerations that you can experience, sounds that you can hear, touches that you can feel. Those are at least the ingredients of an electronic real world.

If a company can make such devices, then they have very basic competencies that can be applied to countless applications, thus give rise to continual growth as various markets, from consumer electronics to automotive, get a whisp of these capabilities.
