stan, I hope that ABC reads the NY Times. Targretin was extensively discussed in that article (it's linked to the diabetes page at home.att.net ) and it's also been getting good press in Business Week and FT, so the public (and news correspondents?) should be more aware.

ABC Evening News had a short blurb on the use of pancreatic cell implants for treating diabetes, and the remarkable success that procedure has shown. Heard no mention of a company, though the coverage came from Los Angeles. The audio failed on an interview with a Chinese-looking scientist. Jennings quipped afterward something like "you can bet that this treatment is years away from being ready."
