''The success of the Big Disk Madness promotion has been remarkable,'' states Syncronys Product Manager, Steve Sussman. ''The demand for BigDisk has exceeded our expectations, and we now have system engineers working around the clock to ensure successful downloads.''

Yet, nobody I talk to is interested and the discussion here is subdued. The reason is simple: remarkable is not only unquantified it's unverified. System engineers working around the clock, oh really? In fact, they probably had a mild response from those who, for whatever reason, were actually aware of the promotion. How many PC operators, oh excuse me, systems engineers, does it take to run a PC? Clearly they would have a record of sales, clearly that could be announced in either dollar figures or broken down into cost per unit. The reason they haven't done that is simple: the claim is utter nonsense, they probably had less than a handful of actual for-money sales, if any. What concerns me more is the noise being made about the Japanese sales and their claim that 50% of their website visits are from Japan for reasons which have not been explained. I know the reason: the claim is utter nonsense. Did you read about the corruption in Japanese markets? The finance minister resigned because of rampant bribery in his department. What does that have to do with SYCR? Nothing, unless you count the restatement of earnings by a few well known software companies after being duped by Japanese product distributors. Once again SYCR is trying to make something out of nothing. The fact is, this wretched software distributor's first priority is to pump up the stock with hollow claims. Thank God people are smart enough to see through this.
