Buyout Opportunity Exists:

In my conversations with a local scrap metals facility operator, he mentioned that MTLM and RECY were known to be eventual buyout candidates. This might not be tomorrow, but most likely in the next couple of years. I think if RECY received the right offer down the road, they would gladly take it. MTLM is obviously being built up for a buyout...investment bankers in the recycling business. RECY might not be as extreme(Wiens coming from a similar industry), but Wiens definitely can see an opportunity developing. Companies like PHV are also doing a lot of consolidating right now and RECY or MTLM would not be too big to swallow...even with $1 billion in revenues. As it stands right now, the people I have talked to within the industry believe that MTLM has made stronger acquisitions than RECY. RECY's largest acquisition is Mindis, which does not have the best reputation in the industry. Hopefully, their managment team will be able to change this image. The company I am in touch with has received offers from RECY and knows RECY very well. His relationship with Mr. Wiens goes back to pre-RECY.
