The material used is said to be an organic and non-toxic blend of baking powder, yeast, and other ingredients. [3] [4] Deriving its name from the animal of the same name which is known for its ability to spray a foul-smelling fluid, "Skunk" is dispersed as a form of yellow mist, fired from a water cannon, which leaves a powerful odor similar to rot or sewage on whatever it touches. Skunk is also sold in handheld canisters and in grenades which can be thrown or fired as projectiles (see riot gun). [5] The company later marketed Skunk to law enforcement agencies worldwide, specifically American local police departments. [6] Several US police departments, including the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, purchased it. [7] A BBC reporter describes its effects as follows:

“Imagine the worst, most foul thing you have ever smelled. An overpowering mix of rotting meat, old socks that haven’t been washed for weeks – topped off with the pungent waft of an open sewer. . .Imagine being covered in the stuff as it is liberally sprayed from a water cannon. Then imagine not being able to get rid of the stench for at least three days, no matter how often you try to scrub yourself clean.” [8]

A reporter for Reuters described its effect in the following words:

Imagine taking a chunk of rotting corpse from a stagnant sewer, placing it in a blender and spraying the filthy liquid in your face. Your gag reflex goes off the charts and you can't escape, because the nauseating stench persists for days. [4]

However, when tested in India, the product failed miserably:

We used it on a captive crowd consisting of CRPF personnel and general public. But they managed to tolerate the smell without much difficulty. [...] Those who can ignore [the] smell can drink the liquid also.
[9]

In December 2017, Haaretz reported:

Skunk is liable to cause physical harm, such as intense nausea, vomiting and skin rashes, in addition to any injury resulting from the powerful force of the spray. Examinations by police and army medical teams in the past also indicated that the excessive coughing caused by exposure can result in suffocation. [10]

Some report that the smell is so potent it can linger on clothes for months, if not years. [11]

Boston Rally Demands Justice for Jacob Blake

Calls for racial and social justice continued Sunday across Massachusetts, one week after 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

About 150 people attended a rally Sunday night at Nubian Square in Roxbury where they demanded justice for Blake and other victims of police shootings.

"The Party for Socialism and Liberation condemns the heinous shooting of Jacob Blake by the Kenosha Police Department," the group posted in the Facebook event. "We stand in solidarity with the righteous anger of the Kenosha community, protestors across Wisconsin, and protestors across the country. The people once again must come out to fight in justified indignation to demand justice for Jacob Blake."

Sunday's rally was about more than demanding justice for just Blake. The group wants to see justice for all victims of police violence, including those locally.

"Boston is going through so much hurt that we have never been able to address," Phoenix Printemps said, "I need people to understand we have our own cases of Jacob Blakes, we have our own cases of Breonna Taylor, and we need our district attorney to reopen these cases and review the cases that have been brought to them."

The event, hosted by the Party for Socialism and Liberation, kicked off at Dudley Street and Malcolm X Boulevard, before the group began marching to Franklin Park.

The organization says they would like to see the officers involved in what they call the attempted murder of Blake immediately arrested and charged, saying on Facebook that "justice can only begin with a conviction and sentencing of all involved."

But that's just the beginning. The group is also calling for police to be defunded and abolished.

"Just this past Sunday we saw the shooting of Jacob Blake seven times in the back and then also we saw the death of Elder Fernandez, soldier from Brockton who died at Fort Hood, hanging, so we see all these things connected between militarism, the police occupation of our communities and just, yeah, the violence against oppressed people, Black people and other oppressed people in this country,” Joe Tache said of why they want to defund the police.

"I'm young and I'm Black so everyday I have to look over my shoulder," one protester said.

Jordan Kapik, a Boston Public Schools teacher who attended the rally, said she's had students taken to the police department for fighting.

"I've had students go from school and taken to a police station just for fighting," he said. "Something that would never happen in a suburban school, or schools without police."

Kapik believes that police need to get out of Boston schools. She also said that schools in Boston need to provide critical social services for kids including food and other basic resources.

Another protester said, "I don't want my kids to have to walk down the street and wonder if the cops are going to stop them for nothing."

A couple of police officers could be seen on top of the Roxbury neighborhood police station watching the crowd of protesters as they marched to Franklin Park in what appeared to be the first sign of visible police all evening.

The organizers said they wanted Sunday's event to be peaceful. Gov. Charlie Baker had already deployed the National Guard in Massachusetts following the unrest in Wisconsin, though Baker has not explained that decision. They could be seen staging Sunday, while organizers said they think those resources could be put to better use.

"The National Guard is used for a lot of things but we haven't had a hurricane, we haven't had certain things," Printemps said. "I would love if the National Guard was here and they were supporting the families that haven't gotten any food during the pandemic, if they were here to check on the elderly."

Event organizers said on Facebook they would be observing physical distancing guidelines and asked all attendees to wear a face mask and maintain at least six feet of distance from anyone they do not live with.

Another rally is set for Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Boston Common.

Police: K9 Dozer Helps Subdue Man Who Pulled Gun at Bar
by Racine County Eye
September 22nd, 2015

Racine police say K9 Dozer had to help officers take a man into custody when the man refused to go quietly into custody after he pulled a gun at a local bar.

Jacob Blake, 24, of Racine, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count of resisting arrest, causing a soft tissue injury to a police officer and one misdemeanor count each of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct. If convicted, he will face up to 8-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $50,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Blake and two women were at the Brass Monkey tavern, 1436 Junction Avenue, Saturday when Blake got into an argument with another patron and pulled a black handgun. Blake pointed the gun at the other man, and the magazine fell to the floor. The bartender told Blake to leave, and he did but then pointed the gun through the window at patrons inside the bar before walking south on Junction Avenue.

Police say they encountered a woman walking on Junction who was in the bar with Blake, but she said she didn’t know what happened and that her friends left without her in a silver SUV. A few moments later, officers were advised that a silver SUV was traveling north on Junction with a male subject driving who matched the description of Blake, and they initiated a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Racine Avenue.

Believing the driver was armed, police conducted a high risk traffic stop, the complaint reads, and ordered Blake to put his hands out the window of the vehicle. Instead, Blake exited the SUV and started walking toward officers and ignored commands to get down on the ground. Officers forced Blake to the ground and ordered him to put his hands behind his back. When Blake refused to comply, K9 Dozer was deployed to force the defendant into compliance.

While police were at the hospital with Blake so he could be treated for the wound he obtained from K9 Dozer …

Blake was searched and police say he had a holster on his hip but no gun. A subsequent search of the SUV turned up a black handgun on the floor behind the driver’s seat.

Breonna Taylor boyfriends were drug dealers.

Another innocent< or not so much> as you hang out with that crowd, bad things

can happen.

Police said the officers were “immediately” met by gunfire when they entered Taylor and Walker's home, at which point they returned fire.

Walker called 911 during the ordeal and he was informed he'd shot an officer. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but his charges were later dropped after he said he shot in self-defense thinking he and Taylor were victims of a home invasion.
