Bill; It is not too late for Apple, they must broaden their installed base with computers made by others as well as their own, and get some sort of standard case/power supply that can be made by others as well as Apple. Just now with Intels pentium II having a hard time un the market is when Apple shoul strike.
However the marketing geniuses at Apple are too dumb, as past experience has shown the siren call of high margins of protected proprietary products irrestible.

I do not know of Jobs can see the writing on the wall. An improved quarter from streamlining of Apple, and other bottom line fiddling does not mean Apple is out of the woods yet.
They must string many of those together and get the numbers bigger..

Apple could be profitable while shrinking all the way back down to $1 million in sales per year, but the share would vanish.

The share and profits both need to climb.
