Right. Below are the calculations. I assumed ALL

Allen,

I too am one that fortunately is still above water. I am in at a post-split cost of about 8 (bought at various times right after the 3-1 split in early 96). I have "lowered" my cost considerably by writing covered calls against the stock.

Month after month I would sell and buy back calls- usually at a profit. If the stock rose, I would roll-up. If the stock dropped, I would lock in a gain or roll-down. If it was flat I let time value erode. It was like collecting a dividend.

Most recently I sold the Dec 30's for almost 5 with the stock at 33 pre split. I played it conservative last week before earnings and sold Feb 11.25 for 2. I bought those back the next morning for 3/16 and rolled down to the Feb 7.5 for 1 7/8. These three trades alone theoretically lower my cost by about $6/share based on the current price.

I plan on letting all my shares get called. Why? No premiums left in an 8 dollar stock. That is why the last split pissed me off. I know it sounds self serving but there is little/no money left to be made by selling calls on IOM now. KE killed the price of the stock. How many funds want to buy an $8 stock? Also let all the shorts "off the hook".

Has anyone else been writing calls against their IOM position? If so I would like to hear how it has worked for you. After my shares are called I plan on employing this same call strategy on Compaq Computer. With their split last week, they are a perfect candidate for writing calls at about $30.

Good luck to all
TB
