Instead, American families are paying the price for his failures. Biden laid into the president for what he sees as his lack of leadership and and inability to keep American children safe during a crisis. “We need emergency support funding for our schools, and we need it now. Mr. President, that’s your job, that’s what you be focusing on now, getting our kids back to school safely.” Biden went on to say that Trump does not have any real plan to open schools safely, and that the president is offering ‘“nothing but failure and allusions.” Biden’s speech comes at a time when school districts across the U.S. are struggling to find concrete plans to open school safely amid the pandemic. The former Vice President also criticized President Trump for his inability to hammer out a new coronavirus relief deal. “Get off Twitter and start talking to the congressional leaders of both parties and invite them to the Oval Office … you always talk about your ability to negotiate — negotiate a deal.”
