OT - I am in SJ for the next 10 days for some dental work. Most/All local radio pretty liberal. I have always liked the NBR News hour and was able to listen to the whole show. Really pretty fair. However, since I also read/listen to a lot of non-MSM media, I can challenge (in my mind) some of their minor statement of facts or lack of providing more detail so listener can judge based on comparable statistics.

One discussion was Australia doing better than other countries on Covad specifically in testing. They DID NOT mention how many tests were being done Per Capita as I wanted to see how the US was compared to Australia.

Coronavirus: How Australia’s testing compares to the United StatesDonald Trump and Scott Morrison have both made the same boast about their coronavirus response this week. They can’t both be right.

Looking at CVS again here is the barchart.com ratio sheet

I had some order to scale into CVS at/below $58/share so will monitor that next week. Really have no exposure to medical/health care retail/drug so this could be a good fit for the portfolio.

I don’t see any shortages of items reported (toilet bowl cleaners etc whatsoever here where I live ) Even Chlorox wipes are easily available, but one needs to look a bit.

Despite NH being pretty open, a lot of restaurants are still takeout only or on restricted hours. Even more so in MA (Inlive close to the border to NH so we frequent both. It’s not so much government mandating shutdowns any more, but rather people doing their thing, or not doing it.

A lot of restaurants have no outdoors facilities because people are more comfortable, but that will only last another month or so until the weather turns ugly. I think the Winter will get tough.

Case numbers here have been pretty low, but now my wife is seeing more COVID-19 cases trickling in again (She works in a hospital in ICU’s) . Yesterday she had a patient from India who apparently just flew in a week ago. The docs think he got it from India as the whole family tested positive (wife, kids), but only the husband has problems and his survival is a coin toss.

Now why we let these people in without safeguards out of a country with very high infection rates is anyone’s guess.

I expect another surge in COVID cases due to Labor Day and later thanksgiving, but probably not as much than during summer. It’s going to be along slog to get the economy back on track.
