Ibexx !
"there is cleary some threat from CSCO to NN " Most of big telecom have multivendor policy. When last fall MCI have chosen NN as a strategic vendor for its nationwide ATM network (much biger then US West) does this mean that it will terminate CSCO as a supplires of routers for IP ?. MCI has also announced strategic marketing pact with NN just this month. Last fall BT(forth largest telecom)has decided to move its core !!!! network to ATM using NN ATM platform.Investment in core network is enormous investment compare to what US west is doing. What about France Telecom, Swiss Telecom, Bell Canada etc.going with NN (1997 announcments).Do not underestimate NN. Just in 1996 CSCO CEO was joking about ATM when NN was very serious about this technology.
