E, Options are something new to me and I'm in the learning process, in fact I ate some misquoted/misordered AMAT recently trying to make the broker think that I'm smarter than I really am...which was totally dumb, to say the least.Message 3275305 Correlating options and stock movement must be in the next stage of my steep learning curve... haven't had any exposure to it YET, however, market timing is nothing new to me and if I may share one of my simple short term trading/timing strategy? "Regardless of gains or losses incurred, I wait for a rise in the stock and try to get in before it completely fizzles out...somewhere way below or slightly above a clearly defined resistance point...then I let 50% go about 1 or 2 points (depending on the stock price) before that resistance. If the stock pulls back, I repurchase...if it breaks the resistance, then I wait for slight remorse pullback (if any) to buy again...and on I go until bad market condition/news/etc. breaks that pattern at which time I drop the stock altogether... and wait. It works about 80% of the time (for me). Sometimes you're selling way too soon... but it's better than way too late!!! It works well with high vol stocks(AMAT, ASND, QNTM, etc)...as long as you have basic/rudimentary knowledge of that company you're trading. It's good for a few rounds...milk money if you will. Not without risk mind you." I had great success doing this with LSI and MU from '95. Lately I consider LSI as total buy and hold...maybe soon it will come to life again. Will it work for you...that I can't guarantee. It may...as long as you deal with stocks on the rise... and showing volume...you can actually beat the returns of the LT investors 2X-4x...depending on how good your chosen stock is bouncing off of "brick walls" (resistance). AMAT so far have tested 33+ 3 times (and failed)and some people(me included) keeps buying it back @27-29 range. If this phenomenon keeps going I may gain 20/share before that stock breaks 34. Of course what I said here is nothing new to most salty traders/investors out there...they've been practicing this strategy and probably some 1000x more complex and 10x more successful. I like the KISS (Keep it simple stupid) principle. Obviously, for every person who agrees with this strategy, about 100 more will decry it... again, it works for ME. Sorry for the looong story...you can wake up now! Regards, SF
