I think we are going to start seeing the real impact of the Sturgis event soon.
It won't be the number of cases of covid19, it will be where they are.
People who have seen the virus in action in larger cities don't discount the danger.
The people in smaller cities and towns, especially those with limited views of the world, scoff.
That the Governor of SD cannot see a link between the event and the rise in local cases places her firmly in the camp of the willfully blind.
The required amount of intellectual dishonesty needed to stay there in that camp increases constantly.
The virus has not stopped killing and the pace of the killing is increasing again, slowly but surely.
The low hanging fruit was picked, places like India and in Africa there was little low hanging fruit at all.
None of this has stopped the virus though has it?
The average age of those infected is dropping, co-morbidities in the dead are becoming less common.
More young people with no pre-existing conditions are being called up, and over and out.
As badly as the US is already losing the kick from the Sturgis superspreading event will be felt.
Small towns in all the nearest states are going to be impacted, no nearby hospital will be exempt.
The people arriving were coming from places where there was little or no exposure to covid19.
Thousands of small tributaries leading to places that were not in the cross-hairs.
And they are taking covid19 home to those little towns, to their friends and families.
Human social organization is a weakness the virus exploits well.
Expecting it will be all over real soon as is simply short sighted in the extreme.
Claiming there is a viable vaccine is criminally stupid, there isn't until there is.
Giving away billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars is not an accomplishment of any sort.
And the companies that are selling hope and doses understand this, delays are inevitable.

Against this backdrop I expect the plan for the badly beaten US government is to do nothing.
At least sixty more days of nothing being done, unthinkable but it is so.
Giving away money and making promises is not a strategy that will beat this virus.
Imagine that eighty million Americans are actually stupid enough to have forgotten smallpox.
The group that thinks vaccines are bad are devotedly dumbed down.
I know it seems unreal that modern educated humans could be so stupid and shortsighted, but they are.
Add in the even less intelligent that not only think vaccines are evil but believe masks are social tools.
It is quite possible that a million or more Americans will die in the next year, even with a vaccine.
The global cost will be even larger, most countries are fighting, a few are winning.
Only a few places, lead by the weak eyed are really failing.
Bodies are piling up fast in Trump, Bolsonaro, Putin and Modi.
A second wave appears to be starting in Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy.
Who needs 2021 vision? All of us. 20/20 really sucks.
