Well, not sure how to answer that. I was a heavy user of cannabis for a couple of years in my late teens but forsook it for a life a hard labor and the toil of rasing 6 children with a stay-at-home wife/mom.

In my 50's when I'd come to conclusion of rasing all my kids into adults except for our last son who was around 12 or 13 and was hitting an age and stage where I was able to begin to relax some, I took up toking once again. The catalyst was a constellation of infirmities, in particular -- ITISIS - that began to afflict me:

* costochondritis
* Iritis
* arthritis
* adhesive capsulitis

* and some other issues - likely all genetic and due to my being HLA-B27 positive.

Doctors had me heavily medicated, including the use of biologics [enbrel]. The financial cost of medications were taking a toll -- i.e. Enbrel cost around $2500 per month back then but with my insurance plan - which at the time was $820 per month just for my wife and I -- my copay for the enbrel went to $685.00 per month.

i decided to get a medical marijuana license and transition to cannabis. California allows you so many plants and so many oz/lbs if you have a card (which cost me all if $25.00 per year) Even if you dont have a card you carry up to an oz legally. AN OZ IS A LOT! (I probably go through something like 4 grams per month (not sure - but its not much). I generally limit consumption to late afternoon evening.

Of my six kids I know 4 have imbibed to some degree while in high school and college. I think 2 of my sons might be occasional users --- but its pretty much in the past for them as they have families to raise and work to do get done. Some of my grandkids are in high school, the oldest being 18. Pretty sure they have dabbled but its really not a big deal for any of us or anything we discuss much.a

I've told my children that I believe that it is best if they can avoid alcohol and any kind of drugs at least until their 25. Telling them is one thing, what they may do is another. With respect to sex I leave their morals up to them (although they know my views) and I only ask one thing of them: dont get anyone pregnant before marriage.

I would not encourage anyone to smoke pot around children. Period.

But come evenings I look forward to toking up. I had around 3 or 4 tokes this evening while these pork chops were on the BBQ. I'm getting ready for bed now and I'll have another 2-4 tokes of an indica --really helps me sleep.

Oddly, although I like the sweet, minty smell of cannabis up close and ejoy it while I'm smoking it -- when I'm walking down the streets of San Francisco (or whereever) and there's a dank smell of pot in the air --> I loath it - and I DESPISE LAZY-ASS POT HEADS.

I have no idea what its like in Hong Kong but in California if you have a medical card you just call a dispensary and they will deliver it to you - usually within an hour. Some city allow walk in dispensaries. So easy access. Or, with a card one is allowed to grow the plants (8 or 12 I cant recall).. Anyway, its no big deal here.
