Max, you again state people should not be bothered by moral values...why do you say this? And as far as polls, this is not a popularity contest, that's how we got in this mess. This is now a legal question, if Monica's statements have any truth to them. And as far as being a journalist in Vietnam and what you witnessed first hand.....come on, what could you have possibly witnessed?? Most journalist had their stories written before hand and just visited Nam to be able to say "I was there". You can make excuses for Bill all you want but why don't you try another thread...surely there is one in SI for fans of Bill.

Max, That "those were different Democrats, they are Republicans now" lie has been used for some time. Research the linneage. Besides, the comments I made about the party were, for the most part, done by Northern Democrats. And pre Civil War, there was only one kind of Democrat. The cocoon is on your side of the pond, we don't have a press in bed with the US president. I was there!! When Johnson ran against Goldwater in '63 one of his commerical adds showed an atomic device exploding while discussing that Goldwater wanted to go into Vietnam. The they panned onto a kid eating ice cream while Johnson pledged never to get involved in the conflict. Clear message there. Besides, if you really did your research on the "way back meter" you would find Truman started the war when he refused to support Ho Chi Minh in his quest to free Vietnam from French colonial rule. I'm kinda curious, if the US's part of the Vietnam conflict ended in the Nixion administration, how did Ford perpuate it? What was the poles question? Polling is often shaped for its response (read Postman's Technopoly). I wounder what the response would be to the question "is it OK to have multiple sexual partners while you are married?" Bet you get a very different response. Yes, Bill and Hillary can structure their marrage, but they are not in private life. When they send my son the message that it is OK to cheat on your wife, then they need to go back to private life.
