While Matty is having fun spewing unsubstantiated hype, here's some hard facts that may fill some holes in this swiss cheese called NETZ.
QUESTION: Why does Tom Burgess say in the Press Release of Nov. 20, 1997,
" the investment community has only recently become aware of our business plans and the precise three faceted spectrum of our business -- Advertising, Internet commerce and AUTOMOTIVE DATA SYSTEMS.(caps added)"
QUESTION: Why does Ron Meatchem say in the Press Release of Dec. 15, 1997,
"''The AUTOMOTIVE (caps added) industry, like many large, multinational businesses, have reached a point where they are ready to take advantage of the internet as a primary means to provide and collect information from their customers,''
QUESTION: Why does PR of Jan. 2, 1998, say,
"ZULU-tek has the following subsidiaries: echoMEDIA Technology, Inc., Mediabank, Inc. and NETZ-Autotrak, Inc. and is the only vertically integrated Internet company with in-house technical development and support in Internet advertising, E-Commerce and web-based AUTOMOBILE industry tracking systems.
Why hire an AUTOMOTIVE exec. to head a company that is so heavily into internet advertising?
What's the deal with all these references to the Automotive industry?
Actually, Matty was on the trail with his invaluable ANKLES report.
However, he should have focused on something called ANX.

Auto Industry's ANX(SM) Network Service Kicks Off Pilot at AUTO-TECH '97
DETROIT, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Automotive Network eXchange(SM) (ANX(SM)) -- a dedicated network service for the automotive industry -- will be unveiled in pilot form at AIAG's annual AUTO-TECH Conference and Exposition this week at Detroit's Cobo Center. The pilot will continue through 1997, with full ANX implementation beginning in early 1998.
Through a demonstration of live automotive applications, AUTO-TECH attendees will be the first to see ANX in operation. Representatives from Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Corporation will interact electronically with Tier One auto suppliers -- Dana Corporation, Dofasco Inc. and UT Automotive -- to exchange product engineering data. Other ANX uses will include electronic data interchange (EDI), electronic commerce, e-mail and future TCP/IP capable applications useful to the industry.
''We announced the vision for a dedicated, auto industry network at AUTO- TECH two years ago,'' said Richard T. Simmons, AIAG associate director on loan from Ford. ''Through the hard work of many industry volunteers and professionals, we're moving from vision to reality in less than 24 months.''
At the on-set of the pilot, many automotive industry companies have committed to using ANX and will work to transition their electronic communications to ANX when full implementation begins. Recent letters of commitment to migrate to ANX network service have been received by AIAG from Chrysler, Dana, Dofasco, Ford, Freudenberg-NOK, General Motors, Goodyear Tire, IBM, Magna, MAKSTEEL, Taylor Steel, TRW Inc. and UT Automotive.
The demonstration at AUTO-TECH '97 also will highlight how companies can eliminate the multiple, redundant connections that exist among trading partners and replace them with one connection to ANX by using Virtual Private Network capabilities made possible through the proper use of ANX-endorsed security standards.
Using Internet technology, ANX takes service quality to a new level through certified performance, ensured reliability and increased security -- all administered and managed by an ANX Overseer company. ''This is an ambitious industry initiative to shape supply chain communications,'' said Thomas S. Hoy, AIAG executive director on loan from General Motors. ''The AIAG, through its cooperative efforts, is eliminating traditional barriers by enabling electronic communication. ANX provides a cost effective solution for trading partners throughout the extended enterprise to get their applications 'hooked up' electronically.'' Trading Partner companies running business-critical applications over the ANX pilot include Chrysler, Dana, Dofasco, Ford, General Motors, Magna, MAKSTEEL, Taylor Steel and UT Automotive. Vendors of ANX-specific security used in the pilot include Cisco Systems, Checkpoint Software, RadGuard, Raptor Systems and Trusted Information Systems. Internet Service Providers demonstrating ANX-specific interoperability include Ameritech, Bell Canada, EDS and MCI.
ANX is a TCP/IP network comprised of trading partner subscribers, certified service providers and network exchange points allowing for efficient and secure electronic communications among subscribers, each requiring only a single access circuit. ANX is predicted to save the auto industry millions of dollars annually by improving trading partner communications, simplifying data network connections and providing a foundation for future network and applications growth.
Founded in 1982, AIAG is a not-for-profit trade association of more than 1,300 North American auto and truck manufacturers and their suppliers. Originally recognized for its efforts to standardize electronic data interchange (EDI) and bar code standards to assist Tier One suppliers, AIAG's mission has expanded to cover all levels of the OEM supply chain, as well as to include numerous programs and initiatives aimed at improving its members' productivity and quality.

A final contract between AIAG and Bellcore -- covering ANX pilot and production roll-out -- is expected to be completed by mid-September. The announcement was made at the AUTO-TECH `97 Conference and Exposition here at Cobo Center.
ÿÿÿÿÿÿUpon completion of contract negotiations, Bellcore will serve as the ANX Overseer for AIAG's ANX pilot -- announced yesterday -- and for the production roll-out of the ANX scheduled for early 1998. ÿÿÿÿÿÿ"Bellcore has played a key role in helping the AIAG move ANX from vision to reality," said Richard T. Simmons, AIAG associate director on loan from Ford Motor Company. "The company's past track record and proven experience will be crucial to the ANX initiative as we move forward with the pilot and production roll-out."
ÿÿÿÿÿÿ"We are pleased to be working with such a major automotive player as the AIAG," said Bryan Whittle, Bellcore director of Advanced Internetworking. "This is a leading example of how making networks work properly is critical to business success. The automotive industry trading partners will be better positioned to reduce costs and cycle time for their business communications. ANX has been designed to meet the trading partner operational requirements. The ANX Overseer certification program will help ensure that multiple certified service providers collectively deliver the required consistent and predictable high Service Quality."
ÿÿÿÿÿÿBellcore's in-depth consulting and technical expertise helped to define the nation's post-divestiture telecommunications infrastructure for local telecommunications carriers, contributing to Bellcore's extensive experience with large, robust networks. The company also pioneered associated network technologies such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode and has been a leader in industry forums on TCP/IP and networking technologies.
