My apologies to all who read here. I write on the run at times and don't often proof-read. I hope my errors in composition (absent words, dangling participles, etc.) don't distract too much from the message.

Tom,

A very articulate post on China and the transformation going on there. Congrats and thanks.

You wrote: Though Mr. Lee has many who oppose his practices, who's to say what measures are sometimes necessary if the whole is to benefit, and remain as one(?)>>

I think part of the problem is that Westerners typically view this as Machiavellian, indeed, view Machiavellian as something bad.

Further you wrote about the epic nature of the transformation (with which I agree) and said <<We in the West can only hope they are successful, and provide as much help as possible in the periphery.>>

Could you suggest the high notes of what modifications to policy should occur?
Thanks in advance. I very much enjoy your posts.
Best,
Stitch

Tom:

My ability to understand the doublespeak of either George Orwell
or the CIA is zero. What is an "aggressive" global power?

Other than What's his name in Iraq, I don't know of anyone in a position of authority that really wants to see the world cease to exist.

China will, IMO, be an aggressive economic competitor in the future.
But, most of the private American sector has already figured that out.
There is a reason they are building factories in China and not in the Sudan. (Nothing against any Sudanese. The name just popped out.)

P.S. Quit bragging about your dangling particable. Those of us whose
particable doesn't dangle are very jealous. <BG>
