i talked with IR today.

got a very cheerful response.

they know of no reason why the stock has floundered lately.

LGND profitability anticipated in 1999 (as stated by others previously).

JS:

LGND TA for 1-29-98

LGND vs. AMEX BTK:
LGND has performed 7% worse than the BTK with respect to their mean values.

Daily pt. and figure chart: LGND could go down to 10 on Friday 1-30-97. I would consider anything that low to be a buying opportunity from both trading and long term points of view.

Daily charts:
closed at 11
10DMA = 11.96, 50DMA = 12.86, 200DMA = 13.50
Bollinger Bands: UVB = 12 43/64, LVB = 11 15/64, hence oversold
MACD - trending lower
Volume Accumulation - been negative since late Oct.
Rate of change (ROC) - trending lower
Directional Movement Indicator (DMI) - bearish, trending lower
Rel. strength (RSI) = 27
Stochastics - nearing bottom area
Wms %R = 93 (buy area)
Granville OBV - trending lower

Weekly chart:
MACD - turned lower today, but has been in negative territory since Nov.
Vol Accum. - stock still being distributed
ROC - negative

Conclusions:
Hard to say what to expect. Charts don't show any sign of bottoming as yet. My gut feeling is that it should find support around 10 to 10 1/2. Buy a lot if it gets to 9 3/4!
Expectations for LGND must have worsened with this recent diabetic inhaler news. That's probably why the stock has taken the recent hit.

Jeff, I'm not sure if its technical or LGND received a mention on the Canadian show on new diabetes treatments, but the ask has already moved to 11 1/4 this morning.

Anyone see the Canadian show. I didn't watch, but assume that the Nightline segment was pre-empted.

Is this a true recovery at 11 1/4? (...or just another false 'breakout'?)
