"Ending up at the temple of water filtration in Los Angeles"

SF (well, Woodside) has a pre-filtration temple.

The water used to flow thru the temple, but they've apparently diverted the flow to a treatment plant to remove chloramine before the water goes into the reservoir.

When I first saw it in the 50's, daredevils would jump into the middle, and get carried into the lake. I heard stories about it, but didn't know anybody who did it. Later on, they added a grate to prevent jumpers.
