Sam Houston national forest has had controlled burning for decades.

When the greenies get overzealous on unfounded science the unintended consequences build up.

Fire management can be done in large parcels of land. It just has to be an ongoing event. Nature grows every day.

The forrest has 165,000 acres not a small parcel.

It is sustainably logged and prvides educational funds for the counties and sends fund to the treasury.

So it can be done.

FIRE MANAGEMENTWildfire - The U.S. Forest Service and the Texas Forest Service have a cooperative agreement and action plan to coordinate the prevention, law enforcement, aerial detection, and suppression of wildfire.

Prescribed Fire - Fire has a proven ecological role in the development and management of the forest and rangelands and is used as a tool for ecosystem management of the Sam Houston National Forest. Prescribed fire can reduce heavy accumulations of forest fuels to minimize damages in the event of wildfires. After an area is prescribed burned threatened and endangered habitat is improved significantly and new understory sprouts supply food for wildlife.

Weather, fuel conditions, seasonal timing and fire application techniques are all considered by trained professionals while accomplishing these projects.

California is more arid than this area, but it can be done when conditions support it.

There is hope, but it requires calm study and not the greenies do nothing, which is ignorant.

Bob

Yeah, that's the ticket. Clear the brush each year from 635 million acres of Federal land in the western United States. Oh, and also do the same annually on 300 million acres of state and private land. That's even crazier than Trump's raking the forest idea.

Wildfire is natural in the western US. Some plants can't reproduce without it.
.

What's different now is the intensity of the fires and the greatly increased size of each fire as it rapidly spreads.

This is due to a hotter climate with drier fuel, and resulting hurricane force winds

During normal times my friend's home in the Angeles Forest is far more than fire resistant enough not to have burned. But we're no longer in normal conditions.

Most news stories don't point out that virtually all of these Sierra foothill towns that burn are Republican majority.

They've 'improved' their rural towns by overbuilding, restricting the size of their evacuation routes, and they keep taxes low by refusing to invest in sufficient fire fighting equipment.

The clowns that refused to evacuate their trailer homes and burnt to death - almost all Republicans. The same reason they didn't want to wear masks in public during a pandemic. Lethal levels of pure ignorance.
.

California is Democratic by virtue of its large coastal cities, which incidentally don't experience massive fires because we have fire fighting equipment. Rural California is Republican and on fire.

Even the city of San Diego, deep Republican country refuses to invest in aerial water tankers and sufficient fire-fighting equipment. San Diego rents it from Los Angeles.

One day soon in Los Angeles we'll already be using this equipment when San Diego calls and demands we rent our aerial tankers and fire fighting crews to them. Then you'll see a really huge fire in rural San Diego.

Pete Wilson, the Republican Governor who came up with Free-Markity Cal-ISO electric purchases was previously the Mayor of San Diego.

Free Markity is bankrupt religion.
