<A> Crosstalk slows rollout of DSL

at zdnet.com

Also, the significance of Paradyne's MVL capabilities seems to have been missed (at least, I haven't read any thorough discussion of it anywhere on SI in it's full capabilities).

Seemingly a DIRECT shot at HDSL-2:

From Jan26 Inter@ctive Week, pg. 8:

Paradyne Corp (getting it's chips from Globespan Semi) this week plans to unveil a new approach to higfh-speed access that the company said will enable one telephone line to deliver eight (that's 8) different connections and to create a local area network within the home as well.

- expected by end of March.
- not a direct ADSL derivative (which was design for video) but a new algorithms designed specifically for data.
- new way of modulating signals over a single copper pair to allow the multiplexing of 8 voice or 8 data channels - also allow the home wiring to become a LAN (plug in many computers and share files)
-Cost per line expected to be $300/line by end of year with service costs expected at $45-$75/month.

At 768kbps symmetrical, it's pretty impressive (as Bay and USWest seem to think): telechoice.com
