Many posts are only this long so you could read completly several posts with one click. Three lines would help maintain the thread concept. I would think the number of previews would best be kept to a minimum if it increases the time to load a page. I would think three to five posts in advance would help. If it significantly increases the time to click through a thread it may not provide an advantage. Better yet if it were user configurable , either toggle the function on or off, or let me see three or five or more posts in advance the reader could control this aspect.
