Hi LH,

Serranos have grown well . This year my "go to" seed "Serrano Del Sol" was discontinued.

So my serranos this year are a bit smaller I think.

I tried a new jalapeno this year, "Everman" Jalapeno's and they are huge - will definitely use them next summer.

We did 11 quarts before I flew home to Houston. No doubt another double batch will be waiting when I return this Thursday.

My early girl tomatoes are really ripening now - weather in the mid to high 70's. Need that for three more weeks and I'll have most of the canning completed.

Going this weekend to buy cabbage and make some sauerkraut. Not as many as last year, still have 6 dozen quarts to give away.

Still it's fun to do so I'll make a much smaller batch.

I cut in a tier into my hill. It will be a multi year project. Making a natural stone retaining wall.

I cut it in with my Bobcat. I'll lay some 2-3 inch rip rap down and compact it then some crushed stone with mixed sand.

Let the rains settle that in , then do a foundation with "Fon Du Lac" outcropping limestone. The quarry is only 30 miles away.

I just ran out of time this year two homes and my schoolhouse just keep me busy.

I'm driving to Oklahoma tomorrow to pick up my 1957 fuel injected 28s. It is my most valuable car. 57 was the first year of "fuel injection and the first year of 4 spd manual transmissions. My car has both and has a very straight fiberglass body.

After I get that home I'm sending the fuel injection unit for a complete overhaul and facelift, (another 3500.00 plus parts - hoping to get it done for under 4,000. I saw a unit for sale without the distributor (another $1100.00 being sold for 10,000.00).

I've been inventorying all of the pieces I bought almost 25 years ago. It was totally disassembled and in boxes. I'm amazed at how complete the car was, but unassembled.

I also bought a 56 vette some 35 years ago also in boxes. Between the two cars I have a very complete inventory of parts that almost everyone of them is $100.00 if you can find a spare!

I had to pay $750.00 for a seat track when I restored my 1954 vette.

I had it stored in my at the time girlfriend's grandmother's shed. When we broke up, it disappeared - learned my lesson, get everything under one roof and make sure it is your roof! <smile>

Add to that deer season for bow and crossbow has started. I won't get serious about hunting till mid October.

Amazing how fast this summer went!

I started late and never really caught up.

The real problem is I spend too much time in front of the computer. Seems like I never get to my chores till 11:00 or noon.

I just have to walk out the door and keep on going.

Here's to a big up week this next week!

Bob
At any rate, if I can't complete them, I need to sell them, so it is time to get going and getem done!
