Robert..

Don't worry about your spelling. People here worry more about
spelling than their investments. You acheive your end result
(communication). That's what counts! Who cares how pretty your
posts look...

OT: Spelling ( to Robert). Maybe you'll be happy to hear that there's no correlation between one's ability to spell and one's intelligence.I've taught English for 31 years and should know. Spelling is not all that rational and consistent; lots of reelly smart peopel simply can't spel worth a darn.

<< Last night I started writing my post with MS Word and cutting and
pasting them to SI. This will help my spelling as I was directly typing into SI before this.>>

In a funny way I'm goin' to miss the old Bob Skinner. Now if MS could only come out with a "stock checker"....

Bob, Congrads on the use of Word to spell check. Your clear thoughts
are now transparent. Good approach. If your mind was as cockeyed
as your spelling, the spell checker would do no good.

By the way, I'm impressed with your flying and diving. When I was
a college freshman many many years ago, I went on my first airplane
ride with my dorm roommate, Bill, who took an aerobatics course his first
semester. (He had been flying since 14 yrs.) Well we went up in
a Stearman open cockpit bi-wing plane and did it all including
the cuban 8, upside down, stall and spin to the ground, etc.
This planes were actually fabric hulled, with an open hole out the
back, and your seat was a hole for your parachute that became your
seat. We had the goggles and scarf bit as well. Did well until
he did a fake landing, roared up again and then dropped forward.
Well my lunch kept going up and out. Froze to the side of the
plane and it took a half hour after we landed for me to scrub
it off the side. After that, commercial planes have never phased
me. (Bill by the way ended up in the AirForce Academy.)

Two part post, First part why I have a Zip, Second part stock price speculation.

One poster writes: Why do I need a zip with the new computer my company Just bought me? After all this new box has a real big hard drive?

I got a big hard drive with lots of free space. Hears why I use a Zip.

1 Backing up my files. I have spent just about all my free time for the last four months writing a stock selection program. Inside this program I have over 9,000 stocks listed in a spreadsheet, including company names Industry and sector. That was a lot of work to put together. I would probably cry more if I lost that file than if Iomega went down a few points. I also have all companies Quartly reports that I could get sense I started writing it. All stock splits all top gainers, losers, volume changers and lots of other stuff. All that stuff would fit on my hard drive but I believe all that stuff to far to valuable to take a chance on lousing.

2 Stashing stuff. My computer came with things I don't use like MS works. I use office 97 pro. I wanted to free up space on my hard drive so I took programs like MS works, MS Bob and stashed them on a Zip.

3 keeping things I have but don't want on my computer. Things like Codes, passwords, and safe combination.
Then theirs the other class of stuff I have but don't like to keep on my computer things like XX pictures.

4 Backing up my whole hard drive. True it takes several zip disks to back up my hard drive but I like having a back up of my whole system. It took me a long time and a lot of work to get it the way I like it.
5 Being able to exchange things with others. Everyone I know that has removable storage has a Zip.

6 Emptying the contents of the recycling been onto. Ever get rid of smoething and then wish you had it?

7 Taking stuff to work. Among the things I do at work is give OSHA safety presentations. I use power point to give my classes. Sometimes I do the work at home or around the community then put it into the company's database with a disk.

8 Being compatible with my wife's Lab. My wife is a Chief Labortory Scientist at a hospital. I put a Zip in her computer so she could transfer things at her job.

9 Company Loyalty, I own the stock buying a Zip drive was a small investment in checking out the company's product.

10 Then there are things like Taxes. It's nice to have a disk deadacated to taxes. No more looking for past records.

Stock price speculation

Short turm

Todays trading action was very much like yesterdays. The stock went up then hit resistance at 9 3/16.
Ending the day up. During the whole day as yesterday the stock was up showing strength to the up side. Momentum stock came to mind. But with an important difference for my money. I think of a momentum stock as a stock with a high PE. Iomega is a stock that is undervalued with a low PE. Yet it is behaving like a momentum stock. For me this is an ideal situation we got the best of both worlds Momentum plus Value. I'm thinking when will we truly hit resistance. When the stock was below nine a share I was thinking just below ten due to the Feb 10 call options out. But now I'm thinking that reasoning is flawed. My logic for that is most if not all those contracts were written while the stock was above ten. The smart money has had ample time to collect their profits and move along.

Then theirs The Emerald conference is coming up. I think this can only be a positive. Also it
looks like we got a rotation into the Tec industry and Storage Sector.

Longer Term

Iomega comes out with new products. People realize advertising is a good thing, After all a company is supposed to invest the money in a way that will better the company's position. I can't thank of a better way under current circumstances than advertising.

We have Intell's new 330 MMX chip out. That can only help computer sales. We have windows 98 coming out around the second Quarter of this year. I have checked out Win 98 among its new features are MS Internet explorer 4.0 integrated throughout. Something that will encourage downloading things from the net. Then Before Christmas Of this Year Intel, Compaq and Microsoft say they will have out their new Technology that will make Internet connections 30 times faster than a 56K modem. This can only help Iomega, as it will be easier for people to find stuff they want on the net and want to save. Also the new faster CPU's and net connections and win 98 should encourage people to buy new computers. Many of these new computers will probably come with a Zip as standard.

Best to All
Bob
