1. Stratacom is getting beat by cascade. They need to bury that mistake. By what measure. I think I just saw a little announcement by US West... my guess is there's more to come. Just my opinion. Ascend/CSCC has never really done anything in switching outside of domestic RBOC's... No IXC's, very little (if any) international presence and ZERO in enterprise. I think your comment is very VERY weak.... more than that it's WRONG. The numbers demonstrate this clearly. The only area Ascend/CSCC has done well against CSCO/STRM is in RBOC's and ISP's and this is more because of mistakes STRM made prior to the acquistion than it is anything CSCC did. This has been corrected/forgotten and you will see this in spades this year! Ascend is still no 1 in ras/rac and Chambers predictions notwithstanding CSCO has a lot of work to bypass ASND in this area. I would be suprised if it happened due to antitrust concerns and Chambers ego. True, ASND is still #1 for the time being. But again, I wouldn't underestimate CSCO. That would be suicide. As for your comment about antitrust... c'mon. CSCO still has to deal with REAL competitors such as LU and NT. ASND won't be ASND this time next year... even most of the longs on this thread are talking buyout. Finally, Chambers is a great man and has a stong vision. He, along with his executive staff has taken Cisco to the top. What do you know about his ego. Don't make statements about people you don't know. It only weakens your position. Gary
