I appreciate your response but I think many of us observers are missing the fact that "newspeak" is rapidly becoming acceptable. While arriving later than projected by Orwell, I think its usage is accelerating thanks to the built-in demands for brevity - often cryptic - required of communicating via one's thumbs. That is, by "texting". Many young people have become so proficient at texting that it influences not only their other means of writing but their spoken language as well. I fear for our future in this regard.
