--wait for the common person on the street to tell us what he she he-she or she-he thought of the debate, because SI folks here on this thread likely not qualify as common-- as you suggest with your gender-flexible description, there is no 'common person' on the streets of the u.s.. so, waiting for such is unlikely to result in a telling. the u.s. is fractured into many, many 'commons'... including lots of 'uncommons'. bias rules, so to say. -g/ng- so, to get a general understanding of something like 'the common person on the street' it seems that we need to review the polls in relation to their biases. what does a left/socialist poll show? what does a right/neoconservative poll show? what does a neoliberal poll show? what does a libertarian poll show? what does a corporate leader poll show? what does a labor/union poll show? what does a (ethnicity) poll show? etc.? then assign population percentages to the various polls, add them up, and assign an error of measurement. or do a simple triangulation with far left poll, far right poll, center poll. as far as u.s. msm... cia success: when everything the American public believes is false.
