The odds of finding a truly good breeder are about the same as finding an honest used car salesman.

Too bad you are obviously set on a breed / puppy. So many “second hand” canines looking for a good home.

Now that Bella, our Shepherd, has thankfully recovered from her Leptospirosis, we decided to foster a Shepherd (mix?), Timber, from the same rescue outfit Bella came from with the intend of finding a permanent home. Instead of trying to get him adopted via advertising, we are taking an approach which has worked well for us in the past. We put up posters along our usual hiking trails thus directly targeting hikers / walkers which is the type of person / family this dog needs. He also wears a vest advertising that he is up for adoption.

We already had three responses after just a few days and met one prospective owner who was outright rejected by Timber as in “I want no part of you”. Clearly the “chemistry” just wasn’t right. Dogs are so brutally honest when it comes to first impressions ... LOL
