Iomega and Nintendo64

I am dismayed somewhat by this development. They really should be using a Zip. According to info on:

ign64.com

(click on "The 64DD: Nintendo's Disk Drive" in the big frame)

Nintendo will sell here in the USA late '98 or '99 a "Zip-like" disc that holds 64MB, and has access times "under 75ms." Both of these stats are well short of a Zip disc's capabilities. Obviously, Nintendo is intent on pocketing all of the money associated with this device which is an add-on to a stock Nintendo64 console. Games may now be distributed in 3 ways: cartridge only (just like now), cartridge AND disc, or disc only. This new drive opens up the possibilities of customizing your own games, and even adding your own scanned-in face to characters on the screen.

Repeat, this is not a Zip disc. But everyone will wish it was. The new Nintendo drive will reportedly sell for anywhere from $79 to $120. Nintendo will still sell 1,000,000's of these drives. despite the poor comparison to Zip.
