Yes, makes points that while not overly exciting or dramatic are relevant to ivesting in high tech. Even if one knows in advance that R & D must be writen off immediatly but if you buy a plant the cost is amortized. The more a co spends on R & d ina given yr. the grter the negtive impact on earnings. New point? No. But easy to forget when these stocks get hammered for a few cents shortfall on the whisper earnings number. So evn though I knew tis I have not usually made any adjustments for difference in R & D spending before reacting to the earnings number or acting on it by eciding to buy as a stock gets crushed.
