Gary, Point and Figure Charting is named after the symbols on the chart. The FIGURES look like the little stick men that you see on bathroom doors. Depending on the market conditions, their arms will POINT in the direction that the stock is going. Hence "Point and Figure".

&**$%#@@%$ Charting is about as old as dust. Actually, about 100 years old created by Charles Dow. It is a very methodical way of determining supply and demand. I've been very impressed with it and it is used widely in combination with fundmentals for determining market, sector, index and stock selection/timing.
