This was a post today on the Yahoo S3 thread from a rep from AMD because of speculation on that thread that AMD and S3 might make a marriage.

As a matter of our normal course of business, we often speak with companies about various types of
alliances. I can't tell
you if we have or have not considered purchasing S3. However, unless and until such talks result in an
agreement
that might be material as information to shareholders and where a disclosure is required by the SEC,
we are not at liberty to discuss them at this point.

Regards, Toni

Our foutune is coming. Many posts on this thread, as well as news media, cast a spell of
doom and gloom, especially in light of Intel. The presumption is that no one can compete
against Intel. Well, Cyrix and AMD seem to believe differently. Management of S3 has
more knowledge of the competive factors than anyone on this thread or any analyst who
follows the industry. As a result, I belive that they understand that they need to create a
bigger synergy. I'm looking for S3 management to make a bold strategic decision and this
will bring us our fortune. >

That sounded like a Bill Clinton Denial...

Are you really Leo in disguise?? <G>

Uh, if DAMIEN were CEO of S3 the past year, shareholders would have been better off. At least shareholders would know what they were getting and likely DAMIEN would have done a better job.

This same team is going to "make a bold strategic decision"?! Trust is something most people do not have in this company and I for one will simply wait for something constructive to happen. Until then, the slow bleed continues. Said so at 8, it's now at 5.

Who knows when the bleeding will stop, and why suffer in the meantime?? If S3 comes up with a good product, there'll be plenty of time to get in before the crowd IMO. BTW, I'm a big supporter of digital video on the PC and believe Intel's solution is not the best one at all, merely one to help sell high end procesors. When I see a Faroudja-based S3 product, I may jump in for more punishment <g>.

Mark.

I agree with you. Since resuming the helm at S3, Terry H. has been taking small steps. The technology market and competitors are moving very fast and I don't think that these small steps are enough. Terry needs to make bold moves and does it quick; such as merging S3 with AMD or other major corp.
