Senate Panel Is Probing Microsoft

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Microsoft, already in trouble with the Justice
Department for alleged antitrust violations, also is the target of a Senate
Judiciary Committee investigation, a Senate aide said today.

"They are definitely investigating Microsoft," said Tony Williams, chief of staff
to Sen. Slade Gorton, R-Wash. "They are meeting with Microsoft. They are
talking with them about antitrust matters."

Microsoft had no immediate comment today but Williams said the committee
has asked Microsoft to voluntary turn over documents regarding its business
practices.
