Land ownership was a great thing.. still is.. well chosen likely the single best investment :) but they sought to restrict it.. and suffrage.. The small landowners were induced to lay down their lives for the cause with the carrot of the franchise.. The group was an interesting amalgam of folks.. running the gammut of Liberals to Conservatives.. The Conservative side won out... and easy to see why because even when it comes to dough for many Liberals with money this is the tune :) I know Phil Ochs does it but Mojo Nixon (Elvis is Everywhere) version is my preferred :) Don't go all straw man on me here... I just bought a property. Like a bag of money sitting there waiting to be picked up (a la Jim Rogers).. You know I was not decrying land ownership.. If anything it is one of the most egalitarian investments..
