Jess, Aaron,

In Alan Greenspan's testimony before congress this morning, he stated that he believed that the Japanese are finally showing promising signs of resolving their banking system problems. It was in response to a Q rather than part of his prepared text. He indicated that the S&L solution, while far from perfect, offered a fine model as a starting point.

Are they down? probably, but, IMO, it's far too early to count the Japanese out.

Ian

Jess,

Korea just got loans worked out. Are the IMF package finalized? They should be free to start chip dumping now. Look out MU and all the side effects.

Clinton should visit the ex-Japanese finance ministers more often.

I am an ex-Hong Kongese. What is the employment situation over there? Are massive layoffs coming after new year or are they overblown rumors.

This tech rally is really puzzling.
