Norm, Do not forget an expatriate Chinese person with relatives in China and who wishes to visit home in China again is not free to speak his mind the way we are used to in a public thread. Many comments on the public threads have come back to haunt expatriates when they have gone home to visit China, and they get arrested and questioned.
This leads to cautiosness and an upright stance that they might not show in person.
