I have no knowledege that S3 and AMD have ever talked to one another about merging, however you must admit that in theory a merger makes good strategic sense and because of the depressed levels of S3 stock, a merger between the entities is doable. If these companies have not talked to each other, they should begin exploratory talks ASAP. I am not investing in S3 because I'm waiting for the next press release on a design win or waiting for a new graphics chip in 6 months to propell the stock price higher. Once again, management of S3 means business. Did you listen to the conference call. It is not easy to cut 15% out of the workforce. It is not easy to announce the future will be challenging. It is not easy to admitt that you let competitors win a design cycle and that Intel will be a player. It is not easy to tell analysts that you refuse to provide them with a model for earnings for the future.
