For all purposes it appears that TPRO tried to engineer the Margin approval to coincide with the shareholders meeting. It appears that the advanced schedule of approvals went out with TPRO on the list of margin candidates. The the broker-dealers are supposed to make the final decision whether and when to allow their clients to borrow against TPRO. As you can imagine, brokers like Datek want you to borrow on margin as much as possible to get the interest revenue. They seem to have the fastest aproval cycle. Other brokers probably take a re-active approach, waiting for their customers to bring it to their attention since their internal approval process is probably very slow.

The brokers who are telling you that it has not been approved yet are not lying but their not telling the truth either. Most likely it has been approved by the Federal Reserve Board, but not the broker yet. They are probably just trying to buy time by pointing at someone else. Or they may want to make sure their in-house traders had time to cover their short positions before they gave their clients the buying power to squeeze them out. Keep demanding margin and tell them that their competition is giving it.

In the meantime, we'll try to find out what the heck is really going on.

Linda, welcome. The NMS status will be very soon as some have indicated that the FRB has approved it. There is actually a brief listing process by the exchange after the FRB approval. Then all brokers will let you trade it in your margin account. Some who are trading on "margin" may actually be margining other stocks as their cash account drops due to TPRO purchases. Others have brokers who are aggressive (all brokers LOVE margin) and will margin as soon as they know they won't be censured for it.

To all, re: latest posts. There are people on the internet who use the internet to verify their own existence. In real life they are ignored because they offer others nothing. On the net they also offer nothing, but the sequential nature of chat rooms and bulletin boards allows them to "hold the conch" (see Lord of the Flies) for a little while. Because they offer nothing positive, they find they receive attention only if they are negative. ANY response to these people will encourage them, their goal is to be noticed, not to be accepted.

The reason I am posting this, is because, as in business where bad money drives out good, on the net, bad posts drive out the good posts. I consider a response to a nitwit post as bad as the original, because I know it will be followed by more garbage.

Anytime we engage in namecalling or even if we respond to the person and not to the ideas, we also run the risk of supressing valuable information, good or bad, that we need, not from the nitwit but from someone with a real contribution who does not have time to wade through the garbage or is afraid of being attacked for voicing an unpopular opinion.

When your essence is distilled down to a few lines of symbols, your character is revealed for all to see.

You may be showing more than you intended.
