A wide spread with most of the action going at the ask is great for long investors. I like to see short-term traders discouraged by wide spreads. It is rough to get people to buy in, but if they really believe in the stock -- they will in spite of the spread.
I bounced around the various web sites that fall under DCI and some are good, others... not-so-good. Would be nice if all were more similar -- a single corporate flavor, if you will.
The travel agent site was very weak -- I would have bought a plane ticket from them yesterday if I could have done it through the site (and the price was fair!), for example.
Just some thoughts.

One thing it does is to discourage ultra short termers. You buy 10k shares now and you automatically lose 1,500. If you are playing it for a quarter rise this cuts your gains drastically.
