bigg e: re VIAGRA problems: I haven't heard anything but then as I said before I am never interested in new drugs out because over last 2 decades I've learned not to hold my breath:disappointments are very common. Viagra will have to surmount the folwing problems: 1) low toxic to therapeutic ratio of all PDEs, 2)change from specific-PDE 5 to non-specific-all-PDEs inhibition at higher doses, with diffuse systemic effects, 3)brief mean duration of erection ( 12.5 minutes ) at 50 mg. 4) at higher doses ( ie 100 mg ) higher chance of side effects, including---> 5) 5)reported " blue halo " effect on vision due to continued retinal stimulation as a result of PDE 5 being present in the retina as well as penis/corpora cavernosa. ( normally, we " see " light by inhibiting the retinal PDE; preliminary rat experiments with congenital genetic PDE abscence, ie as if it were inhibite, show rapid development of macular retinal degeneration [ MRD}; MRD wogether with diabetes are a leading cause of blindness in the USA amongs older people, the Erectile Dysfunction population exactly.) 6) longer interval between intake and onset of action, 30-60 min. 7) iterference with absorption with food , alcohol, and interaction with other drugs that ED patients are on ( MUSE/Alprostadil has been tested in this for 15 years; been used in newborns ). 8) finally, Viagra requires a person not to be totally impotent to work so that he must be able to initiate an erection FIRST ON HIS OWN and THEN VIAGRA will boost it up.This will eliminate millions of ED patients from that therapy.( ie the totally impotent; the latter WILL respond to MUSE which does not require pre production of Nitric Acid to work). Either way, as far as Vivus is concerned with or without Viagra the outlook is great. The worst scenario is with Viagra approved: that will have a great marketing impact on Vivus , because people will use both. The best case scenario for is if for some reason VIAGRA approval is delayed or even eliminated: Can you see Vivus at $100 in 2 -3 weeks in that case?
