David,

I won't move my account over this, though I would move the stock if one of my other brokers has classified it as marginable. Waterhouse has given me good service and have proven reliable over time, as has Brown & Co.

Now that I think about it, I'm not surprised that Waterhouse isn't giving TPRO marginability. Waterhouse keeps a list of volatile stocks which they consider high risk, and before a buy order can be made, if you deal with them voice rather than online, the broker must get "override" permission to allow you to buy the shares. Pixar used to be on that list (maybe still is, but I place my orders on line for it so am not aware of the procedures before the order is entered). I also don't know when they deny permission to buy, since they haven't ever denied me.

I found out yesterday that TPRO is on that list. There was a glitch on line yesterday and I had to place my orders voice with Waterhouse. They put me on hold, just as they used to do with PIXR, to get override permission to place my order. I confirmed with the broker that it was on that volatile stocks list. If Waterhouse considers TPRO high risk, and marginability is discretionary, they will not give it margin status.

I wish I'd thought this out yesterday.

Linda
