A full sized handle on the giant cup going back to 2012 would mean about a 1/3 retracement. I was kind of expecting the handle to be stubby given the current state of things, but you never know. 1/3 of that cup would be about 2150-((2150-1100)/3) or 1800...so smack in the middle of your buy zone.

Sounds similar to curve fitting - try different moving averages until one works.
Here's a better technique - all corrections have ended with a fresh 3 month low, usually not by much.

3 month low in mid March: $1465
Correction Low: $1451

3 month low now: $1851 (Sept 24th)

above prices are from continuous futures contract

Coincidentally, the 3 month low is currently near the 140 day ma.
140 day ma works most of the time due to the price lag of the average (up to 70 days / 3.3 months)
