We both go back "forever". I'm 60 now, which means I was 34 in 1996 when I first found SI. Back then I had a two year old son and a newborn son. Now they are aged 26 and 24. That means basically their entire lives are here on SI in bits and pieces. Crazy.

When I graduated college in '82, PCs were just being produced. The Internet as we know it was far far in the future. In the early 90s, being on-line meant either you were on a Bulletin Board System or CompuServe, the latter being my home and my first email address. That's why when SI came out, the early adopters were our/my age group, not the 20 somethings. If SI were to be (re)introduced today, I truly think the 20 somethings would feel at home. After all, as pointed out earlier, they are fine with being on Reddit. I also think, given the "Board/Bookmark" nature of SI, all the generations could co-exist here peacefully.
