John these people have been around since the beginning of time. Let me explain to you a little about how the brain works. We are all born with a motivational system that requires a carrot on a stick. If this were not so we will never get off the couch or stop watching TV. The carrot is the natural opiate system built in the brain that releases opiates when one works for something that will better ones future. We will not look at that now but look at the stick which is the ability to get depressed. We actually get depressed dozens of times a week and thousands of time in our life.Most of us never noted because it is so mild. Look at the pain system it tells us something is wrong with our body to do something before it kills us. Depression says something is wrong with my situation give me the hell out. Just as we have a pain thermostat in our brain for physical pain we have a depression thermostat for depression We have a part of our brain at all times is making an evaluation of who we are and where we are. It knows how tall we are how handsome we are how intelligent we are how much money we have what kind of family we came from and multiple other things. We also have another part of our brain that is comparing ourselves to those around us and making a decisionAs to where we would like to be. We were built to be creatures that compare our self to each other. Now depression is the disconnect between where we are and where we want to be. It is meant to make us unhappy so as we get off the couch and go towards the thing we want. Now each of us is born with a depression center on the 1 to 100 percentile. Some of us get depressed over nothing and some of us have the inability to get depressed. Both sides of the spectrum are actually in illness. Those who get depressed easily have a miserable life but are still survivors. Those near the hundred percentile are missing half their motivational system and go nowhere in life. Now they do have the opiate system which is the carrot which can coax them forward but they do not have the stick that will beat them forward. Now this depression center does not live in isolation. We are each at the 1 to 100 percentile on IQ, sexual drive, sociopathy( inability to feel others pain),courage, impulsiviy, sadism, masocism.impulsiviy, abolity to get depressed, ability to get psychotic etc.... So the depression system is supposed to motivate us as when the disconnect between where we are and where we want to be gets greater we feel the pain of depression and we move forward. Unfortunately for some people who are depressed they distort the brain purpose by trying to Pull people back who are in their where i want to be catagory vs making the effort to move themselves forward.Have you ever noticed how unhappy and angry the left is? You see people that are born with a high ability to get depressed and also happen to have sociopathy, jealousy, envy, sadism (born high on these scales) distort their natural motivation system and use causing other pain to make then happy Look at BLM and the Extreme left So again these people have been with us from the Beginning of time and are even on this board (Gib Bogle) They were born with a set up to be in pain and relieve that pain via causing others to suffer.
