My first hurricane experience was Betsy in 1965, I was 4 yrs old but still remember the power going out and sitting around in candle light. And this was in Lafayette LA which is well inland of where the storm came on shore.

Then in 1969 we happened to be living in Gulfport MS for a gal named Camille.

Of course for Katrina in 2005 my power was out for about 2 years before I decided to rebuild and got a temporary electric pole for reconstruction. I good learning experience for home renovation and repair techniques as I did as much of the work as I could. I really enjoy carpentry work, working with hands. Unfortunately also a good learning experience for how home contractors can be oh so crooked, especially plumbers and electricians, they'll bend you over and dry fuck you in the ass if you let em.
