We tried that once. They went out and recruited people who don't post here. Forget a moderator, unless you can find a centrist. Nobody posting here should get it.

Just remove the "Report TOU" link on this thread and one of your big problems is solved immediately. No more crybaby reports all night and all day long. Or at least remove all the sissy reasons like "personal attacks" or "being mean to me" or "he hurt my feelings again" and just leave "report a "porno picture post" or "blatant swearing". Nobody forces people to come to this thread or post here. The complaints are a game by both sides playing you and seeing who can get the most bans. You know it and you know that it actually encourages more crybaby complaints.

You’re refusing to solve the problem. If you will not appoint a moderator then why randomly show up and issue bans ? You do not acknowledge the initial personal attack and only react to the baiting after the fact. This thread is the Wild West. Are you losing ad revenue as a result ? If so appoint a moderator and your frustration will be solved. Otherwise what’s the point ?

My suggestions: It looks to me like you decided to monitor this thread, but have NOT POSTED ANY RULES. And rather than ban posters from this thread, you lock them out of SI altogether, I think that has created confusion. I suggest that you write out some rules, even if it is as simple as "no personal insults" and enforce them meticulously by banning the offenders from THIS THREAD - until even the most determined sees the light. But the punishment needs to be equal. If it's a week for one, it's a week for all - no playing favorites.
