Looks like a terribly complex situation if you find you have to report pfic stuff (Form 8621).

"Foreign funds are usually PFICs." Not limited to those though.

There are some IRS indications that you can hold PFICs in IRA without any reporting or tax issues.

However, I am not your tax accountant, so take that with my $2500/hr fee. :P
