ANADIGICS INC. Sees Possible Net Loss for 1998 First Quarter Jan. 29, 1998, ANADIGICS Inc. (Nasdaq:ANAD - news) said it expects to report ''significantly'' lower sales and a possible net loss for the first quarter of 1998. ANAD stated that ''while our operating results for the quarter (fourth quarter of 1997) were disappointing, overall, 1997 was a good year financially for ANADIGICS as the company posted record sales and earnings. As we enter 1998, however, we are experiencing a substantial reduction in orders and forecasts for orders from our wireless customers, which will result in significantly lower sales in the first quarter and could result in a net loss for the period. This recent information shows a significant reduction in phone build rates on certain products from our customers and suggests that they now have excess inventories of our products. We believe the lower demand is attributable to several factors including, increased competition, a shift in demand to lower cost phones not using ANADIGICS' products, customer delays in the ramp-up of new generation dual-band phones using our new products and, in part, to effects of the Asian financial crisis on the wireless market.'' from quote.yahoo.com Last week I was kicking myself after selling ANAD at $30 3/4 to buy something else that ended up going down (CYBE). I can't pass up this opportunity. I sold the other and bought twice as much ANAD that I had. My condolences to those of you long in ANAD that got slammed. I hope this is a one quarter blip due to the Asian Flu. Steve
