Christine, I'm bothered by your post. You refer to once responding to the Clinton's campaign of new American idealism as a "stupid idealist." Yikes.. I hope you never lose your idealism, especially not because of this indulgent bit of moral narcisism. Pretty soon you could turn into a pragmatist, then a pessimist, then a traditionalist, then a conservative... where so little sunlight penetrates that one sees the opportunities of the future through the failures of the past.
