Respond to of 793914 Awhile ago, I mentioned I am finally reading Catherine Drinker Bowen's wonderful book: "Miracle At Philadelphia"...."The Story of the Constitutional Convention - May to December 1787". First edition of this marvelous book was copyrighted in 1966. Heavily Researched from actual papers by the participants, and letters, and diaries of many of the people. Alexander Hamilton said: "Men love power. Give all power to the many, they will oppress the few. Give all power to the few, they will oppress the many." IN MY OPINION: While we have the type of federal government that has one executive, we also have state governors. Each of those groups have MANY other heads of departments. We are now seeing the many departments of both State and Federal government that many such people, both men and women (think Nancy Pelosi and her ilk, and most of the State Dem governors here in this space.... A long time friend used to call those folks "heat soakers") We also see something else....It would be interesting to know if the early founders suffered this problem as well. That problem is that today, members of one party (including Unions, etc) think AND act as if they are looking down on the mass of the people who did not vote these people into power. This is the Dem party, most of whom I personally feel have their hands out to receive all the money and graft that is possible to receive at ALL levels of society. The party of the Republicans generally are the ones helping all the poor, the helpless, and others, while working to support their families and others they can help. These people do not look down on people as a general rule, except for those who expect to receive money or graft from the others who expect the taxpayers to pay for them to live their lives.
