I don't think Creative did much with the outputs. Hidden beneath the CL paper labels are a C-Cube chip that I guess does the MPegII decoding and another (large) chip I don't remember the name of. None of them does however contain any Creative Labs sign except the paper glued on to them. Analogue sound is affected by your soundcard, and if you have a basic Awe64 (like me) the sound will be VERY affected. Buzzing and static. However, with the AC-3 digital output the sound is amazing. I don't think Creative has anything to do with the AC-3 output either :-) No matter what, the Encore package is good. A good decoderboard and a good DVD drive. I'm very pleased with it, allthough the video overlay for the monitor display really annoys me, but then again, all I had to do was to stop using the passthrough cable and shrink the blue screen that pops up on my monitor and enjoy the TV picture. Perhaps the passthrough part of the card was made by Creative ;-) Best regards, krabsets@online.no , sometimes known as Per Christian Krabsetsve
